Day 5
Some Big Names
9/9
We went to some very famous places today, and it was awesome. We started walking and although we hadn’t planned it, we ended up heading towards Monte Martrye and Sacre Cour. We hadn’t had any food and it seemed that everything was closed. We were lucky that we found something open, cafe au lait and bread and jam all around. We took our time and head up the big hill, headed towards our destination. I found the best street in the world and another reason why I need to live here. It was some of the freshest meat, cheese, bread, and fruits and vegetables I’ve ever seen. I had to look past it though and keep climbing onward. When we got there is was pretty shocking how big it was. We were there for mass, so we stayed a while. I have no religion in me whatsoever, so I wasn’t sure how this would go. It was amazing, and just beautiful. I’m glad that we stayed, if I was by myself I would have been out of there pretty quickly. It was very nice though. Going down I got trapped by some guy selling stuff, I held a string for him, and he made a bracelet. It gets better though, he wanted 10 euro for, I was all like, uhhh, no? So he goes 8 then, So I start to take it off, he goes 5 and I reach for my wallet, get him excited you know. I didn’t want to break it to him, but I wouldn’t want to pay anything for this. So I gave him a euro and a half. I don’t think he was very happy, but I left, glad that I gave him hardly anything.
For our next adventure we had a decision to make, Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame, we went for Notre, because it would take less time. So we hopped on the metro, transfered to a train and ended up right in front of the famous cathedral. I was pretty spectacular. It’s kind of a big deal, and right after we went through, it became super crowded. Seeing the Rose window and all thems flying buttresses it was pretty cool. I took lots of pictures and got arty with my pictures. But it’s France, every picture will be good, unless you wave the camera around like a mad man(or woman, lets not be sexist, women can be crazy also).Sometimes I forget how funny I am. So after going through Notre Dame, we got on the train again and headed toward the Eiffel Tower. When we got in the general area we found a cafe to get a sandwich at and had a good snack. Just around the corner was the one of the most visited places in all the world. The lines for the lifts were ridiculous, so I did what everybody else did and took the stairs. My grandparents didn’t really want to go up, so I climbed even more stairs to the first and second levels. The only way to get up to the very top is to take an elevator, and it had so many people it was simply not worth it. The view from the second level is amazing and I got lots of good pictures. The trip down the stairs was easy and went pretty fast. So I was at the bottom and it’s a long way up to the top.
Back to the hotel we went and the day was closing fast. We wanted to go to the place we went on the second day, but it’s closed on Sundays. So we went to the Italian place we went to on the first day. Grandma wanted pizza, and it sounded good. So we had our pizzas and got a gelati sampler that consisted of pistacio, cherry, coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. It was really good and I would have had more if I hadn’t just eaten a whole pizza. We next headed to the Hard Rock to see what rugby was on. It was Ireland, my homies, and we won. But next we have to play Argentina and they beat France. I feel sorry for the Scots though, they have to play the All Blacks (New Zealand) next.
We didn’t stay for long though, we had to call home. It was my brother’s birthday and he needed a song. So we called him and then talked to the rest of the family and went to bed. Another good day in the city of lights.
